【摘要】:Thesmallsizeofthewirecomparedtotheshortgalvanicinteractiondistanceinatmosphericexposuresgivesalargecathode-to-anodearearatiowhichacceleratesthegalvanicattack.Theareabetweenthewireandthethreadscreatesalong,tightcrevice,alsoacceleratingthecorrosion.Forthesereasons,thispractice,withatypicalexposureperiodof90days,isthemostrapidatmosphericgalvaniccorrosiontest,particularlycomparedtoTestMethodG104.Theshortdurationofthistestmeansthatseasonalatmosphericvariabilitycanbeevaluated.(Ifaverageperformanceovera1-yearperiodisdesired,severalstaggeredexposuresarerequiredwiththistechnique.)Reproducibilityofthispracticeissomewhatbetterthanotheratmosphericgalvaniccorrosiontests.Themajordisadvantageofthistestisthattheanodematerialmustbeavailableinwireformandthecathodicmaterialmustbeavailableintheformofathreadedrod.ThisshouldbecomparedtoTestMethodG104whereplateorsheetmaterialisusedexclusively.Anadditionallimitationisthatthemoreanodicmaterialofthepairmustbeknownbeforehand(frominformationsuchasinGuideG82)orassembliesmustbemadewiththematerialcombinationsreversed.Themorphologyofthecorrosionattackoritseffectonmechanicalpropertiesofthebasematerialscannotbeassessedbythispractice.TestMethodG104ispreferableforthispurpose.ThistesthasbeenusedunderthenamesCLIMATandATCORRtodetermineatmosphericcorrosivitybyexposingidenticalspecimensmadefrom1100aluminum(UNSA91100)wirewrappedaroundthreadedrodsofnylon,1010mildsteel(UNSG10100orG10080),andCA110copper(UNSC11000).Atmosphericcorrosivityisafunctionofthematerialthatiscorroding,however.Therelativecorrosivityofatmospherescouldbequitedifferentifadifferentcombinationofmaterialsischosen.1.1Thispracticecoverstheevaluationofatmosphericgalvaniccorrosionofanyanodicmaterialthatcanbemadeintoawirewhenincontactwithacathodicmaterialthatcanbemadeintoathreadedrod.1.2Whencertainmaterialsareusedfortheanodeandcathode,thispracticehasbeenusedtoratethecorrosivityofatmospheres.1.3Thewire-on-bolttestwasfirstdescribedin1955(1),andhassincebeenusedextensivelywithstandardmaterialstodeterminecorrosivityofatmospheresunderthenamesCLIMATTest(CLassifyIndustrialandMarineATmospheres)(2-5)andATCORR(ATmosphericCORRosivity)(6-9).1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
